Posters, screen prints and zines by artist Mark Wheatley a.k.a. Marko, based on an ongoing exploration of form, colour and composition.
Marko’s work pays reference to modernist abstraction, fused with a contemporary graphic sensibility.
“Each image evolves organically through a combination of intuition and improvisation. When screen printing I use hand cut paper stencils. This allows for a spontaneous working approach, with a quick build up of flat, even colour, and provides opportunities to explore bold graphic shapes and forms in playfully constructed compositions. I am intrigued how the shapes interact with each other creating their own unique relationships.”
