Once again this month, Europe’s largest free street art and graffiti festival turns parts of Southville and Bedminster into a massive canvas, as hundreds of street artists flood the streets of BS3 for another instalment of the brilliant Upfest. While traces of other festivals fade almost immediately after they shut up shop, the beautiful results of Upfest remain all year round on the sides of pubs, shops and parks across the area.
This year Upfest’s weekend of live painting continues to get bigger and better. A brand new area at Ashton Gate Stadium will host the largest collection of live painting yet seen at the festival, and the organisers are expecting crowds of over 30,000 people to take to the streets of BS3 to marvel at the work of over 350 artists from all over the world. This year’s guest artists include Pahnl, masters of these cheeky little figures:

The live artist painting takes place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30. Monday 31 is a viewing day and special family day with extra workshops for the kids. Each venue becomes a painting or music venue for the festival weekend, where visitors can chat to artists while they create their pieces.
