Vincent Patterson
Solo exhibition by Vincent Patterson, a graphic artist and tutor who works from his home studio in rural Cheshire, using screenprint and risography.
Whilst printmaking is generally a way for artists to reproduce multiple copies of an image, Vincent’s creative approach produces a series of one-off originals.
His process start with a variety of pop culture source material; old and new photographs, femmes fatales, film stills, geometric patterns, music, typography.
is needed now More than ever
These are then overprinted, in punchy fluorescent colours and metallic inks, building up layers of depth and abstraction. Working intuitively until the piece “feels right”.
“My work is a really mixed bag of shapes, big colours, and imagery. As much as possible, I try to make my artworks individual affordable originals.
“If there is a unifying theme, it is: ‘There can only be one’ (although sometimes I do few). I love the idea that for the price of a regular print or editioned piece you can have the ‘one’, the original, it’s yours for keeps.”
