Throughout December, PRSC’s Outdoor Gallery Wall on Jamaica Street will become an exhibition space where artworks produced by brave local artists will be offered for sale.
The work will remain outside in the street 24 hours a day, to be appreciated, or not, by the general public.
“Conventionally, street art is brought into indoor gallery space for sale. This time, the gallery goes into the street, inviting the possibility of destruction, but also the possibility of positive outcome. In short, a social experiment.
is needed now More than ever
“The outdoor gallery aims to give local community and passers-by a sense of stewardship of public space. Hanging the work outside will mean it is vulnerable to vandalism and theft. Trust and respect are therefore central elements of this exhibition. Private property, public space and commercial enterprise become intertwined.
“Displayed artworks can be purchased at the Stokes Croft China Gallery, open 7 days a week Mon-Sat 11am-5pm, Sunday 12-6pm. The exhibited works will change regularly, as artwork is sold and replaced by new .
Artists who have participated so far include Alpha Wilson, Annie Lilygreen, Ben Hartley, Benoit Bennett aka Object, Hannah Anderson, James George, Jill Eastland, Justin Quinnell, Lara Luna Bartley, Pablo Teresa, Phoebe Tye, Rebecca Hiscocks, Ruby Fleming, Sam, Shaun Harrigan, Tudor Titzoiu, Thomas Eastland and Xavier Roy.
