Painting the Bridge

Date: Saturday, Sep 29 2018 - Sunday, Oct 7 2018
Venue: Clifton Suspension Bridge Visitor Centre
Artists
Tom Hughes

For the last six years, multi-award winning landscape painter Tom Hughes has been painting the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Recording the seasonal change, he repeatedly returns to the area and its irresistible combination of Brunel’s engineering masterpiece set amongst the stunning views and vegetation of the Avon Gorge.

Hughes has exhibited extensively at the Mall galleries in London, Bath, Bristol and Cornwall and was selected three times for not only the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition but another three times for the Lynne Painter Stainers Prize alongside the BP portrait Prize in 2014.

Painting the Bridge will focus on Hughes’ favourite views of the Gorge, where the light, weather and changing seasons generate a never-ending supply of images that deserve capturing in oil paint.
