The actor and comedian, Matt Lucas, discusses his life and career so far and introduces his autobiography, Little Me: My Life From A-Z (Canongate, £20.00.) The star of Little Britain, Les Miserables, and Shooting Stars studied Theatre, Film and Television at the University of Bristol in 1993 but, preferring stand up, he left the university to join Shooting Stars and has stayed in film and television ever since. ‘I was…generally useless at university life. I had few friends and rarely left my room, unless it was to go and cook something in the kitchen’, he said. While students got down to serious life and academic work, Lucas ‘walked up and down nearby Whiteladies Road with a cough’. He reveals the stories behind his time in Bristol and his subsequent career in film and television.
