Launch event and signing for Shirley Hodgson’s new book, Bristol’s Pauper Children (Bristol Books, £12.00) which brings to life a little-known piece of Bristol’s past – the plight of 1,500 of the city’s poverty-stricken children who were sent to Canada in the 19th century in the hope of giving them a better life.
