Due to popular demand, The Friends of Redland Library are hosting a second Meet the Author event with Bristol-based Jane Duffus, author of The Women Who Built Bristol.
Spanning almost 900 years from Princess Eleanor of Brittany (1184-1241), who was imprisoned in Bristol Castle for 39 years, to author Helen Dunmore, who died in 2017, Jane Duffus’ book The Women Who Built Bristol, looks at the women who helped to shape Bristol into the vibrant city it is today. From pin makers to police chiefs, from workhouse inmates to lord mayors, they show that Bristol was built by women, celebrating the less well-known women of our past as well as the key big names.
The Women Who Built Bristol is published by Tangent Books and Bristol Women’s Voice.
