Julian Sayarer introduces his book Interstate: Hitchhiking Through the State of a Nation (Arcadia, £8.99) which was named Stanford Dolman Travel Book of the Year in Febuary. In the book Sayarer, who holds the world record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe on a bike, recounts a hitchhike he undertook from New York to San Francisco, and the picture of American politics and culture which emerged through the people he met on the road.
