Milk Poetry: Sean Mahoney & Sophie Dumont
Milk present headliners Sean Mahoney and Sophie Dumont plus an audience-voted slam.
Sean Mahoney is a poet, performer and playwright. He’s been performing poetry since 2011, appearing on Channel 4’s Random Acts, winning Literary Death Match in London and Dublin, featuring at Bang! Said the Gun, Chill Pill and festivals across the country. He also helps run and co-founded Boxedin, a spoken word night that’s been running for five years at Boxpark, Shoreditch. Until You Hear That Bell was critically acclaimed, had a three-week run at the Battersea Arts Centre and toured boxing gyms across the country, working with young boxers and older trainers to write about their experiences. His new show Back of the Head with a Brick is being developed at Battersea Arts Centre.
Sophie Dumont is a writer and artist from Bath. She completed her Creative Writing MA at Bath Spa University last autumn where she let life events during the year infiltrate her poetry collection, including the birth of her niece, two break-ups, an anniversary of a partner’s death and a residency along the Avon. Sophie is currently working on her third production with immersive theatre company, Riptide, and is writing and recording a binaural video walk through Leeds. Her work has been published in The Interpreter’s House, short-listed by Bare Fiction and Highly Commended by Poetry School and Nine Arches Press. She was also chosen to become one of two Bristol Boat Poets 2018. Her writing is rich in sensory fusion with plenty of prose poetry and personal confessions as a young woman.
