Milk Poetry returns to Tobacco Factory Theatres for an autumn bash with a great line up of poetry and spoken word performers – Tony Walsh, Jasmine Gardosi and Toby Thompson.

Tony Walsh is one of the UK’s leading performance poets, a former Poet in Residence for Glastonbury Festival and a regular on tv and radio. Performing and teaching internationally from his base in Manchester, Tony’s poem at the vigil for the 22 vitctims of the Manchester bomb put him in front of a global tv audience and has since been viewed more than twenty million times on YouTube. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Tony’s poetry has been commissioned and/or broadcast by BBC1, BBC2, Radio 2, Radio 4, 5Live, 6Music, L’Equipe tv and published everywhere from The Guardian, The Spectator and The Observer.

Jasmine Gardosi is the current Cheltenham Poetry Festival Slam Champion, Mix It Up Midlands Slam Champion 2015 and one of the winners of the International Pangaea Poetry Slam 2015. She has appeared on BBC Radio 3’s The Verb and was shortlisted for Birmingham Poet Laureate 2016/18. A former BBC Arts Young Creative, she has worked as a Poet in Residence for the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and is collaborating with Autin Dance Theatre on a sexual health show combining dance and spoken word.

Toby Thompson has written commissions for the RSC and the National Portrait Gallery. He’s performed his work at festivals and venues including Latitude, Shambala, Leipzig Book Fair (Germany), Harare International Festival Of The Arts (Zimbabwe), the Photographers’ Gallery and the Natural History Museum.

Milk poetry was recently picked as one of the Best Spoken Word Nights in the UK by Picador Books
