Spotlight: Aiysha & Steven Golding
Spotlight returns with headliners, Aiysha (pictured) and Steven Golding. This will be the final Spotlight at Crofter’s Rights with a new permanent home to be announced soon.
“Aiysha is a Bristol- based spoken word performer and mythological creature in residence. Their poetry deals with the difficult topics of mental illness, love, trauma, queer identity and home. They exude an enchanting calmness in the delivery of their poetry that contrasts the harrowing nature of what they write about. Aiysha’s work may leave you shell shocked, but you’ll be warmed by their charming personality and sense of humour.
“They have performed at Shindig Festival and The Great Estate Festival and competed in the Milk Poetry Grand Slam, qualified for the Lyra Festival Slam final and the Hammer & Tongue national finals.

“Hello my name is Steven Leslie Golding and I suffer mental health issues. I belong to three poetry groups – Raise the Bar, Silver Street poetry and The Folk House. They are all wonderful groups and they all give me such a very warm welcome, many thanks to all of them. They have really helped me cope with my daily struggles and have helped me so much with my confidence issues.”
There will also be the usual open mic session. Those interested should sign up on the door.
Please arrive promptly to sign up for the open mic.
This monthly event “puts the Spotlight on the emerging talent pool of Bristol and its surrounding areas, providing a relaxed and welcoming environment for newbies, veterans and anybody in between to perform their work to a warm and intimate audience in the heart of Stokes Croft.”
