Ride on – Freedom of Mind
Cycling is an eco-friendly alternative form of transport and a fun way to meet new people. Combatting loneliness while getting in some good old exercise, Freedom of Mind Festival 2019 have teamed up with Life Cycle UK for two bike rides.
Starting at Easton Community Centre at 10am or Temple Meads station at 10.30am, you’ll be able to choose from a short or long route along the Whitchurch Way. Both are flat and achievable for cyclists of all levels.
Long ride
Saltford Loop via Whitchurch Way: an alternative route to Saltford mainly on quiet country roads and cycle paths, stopping for lunch in Saltford at a pub or cafe. The route is 25 miles and will take five hours.
Short ride
Whitchurch Way loop via Stockwood nature reserve: a gradual climb out on a mostly traffic-free route with a downhill return through the green open space of Stockwood nature reserve on a traffic-free path stopping at Arnos Vale Cemetery cafe for lunch. The route is 11 miles and will take two hours.
Both rides are alcohol free and for ages 18 and over. Cyclists should bring a water bottle, packed lunch or money to buy lunch, a helmet, a puncture repair kit and a hi-vis vest.
