Resident Evil series creator Paul W.S. Anderson teams up with his missus, Milla Jovovich, for the fifth time for this adaptation of yet another computer game franchise. This one’s about a US Army Ranger (Jovovich) who pops through a handy portal into a parallel world where gargantuan monsters are obligingly waiting to be hunted.
As with vitually all of Anderson’s other films, the effects are top-notch but the story leaves something to be desired. “Monster Hunter is mostly a mindless blur of action, held together by the slenderest threads of dialogue and plot – and exactly what many viewers will be looking for,” is the Rotten Tomatoes summation.
