Liam Neeson was presumably unavailable for this action thriller in the tried-and-tested Taken mould “Never underestimate a nobody” runs the shout line), so Saul himself (that’s Bob Odenkirk) gets an opportunity to prove his whupass mettle as an ordinary spod who falls foul of the drug lord.
Bob plays mild-mannered, sad-sack middle-aged dad Hutch, who’s something of a disappointment to his wife and kids until he opens up a John Wick-style family-sized can of whupass on an evil Russian mobster. Fortunately, knowing humour abounds. “Taking itself much less seriously than the Taken series and its predecessors, it’s a wish-fulfillment romp just as ludicrous as any of them but more fun than most,” reckoned the Hollywood Reporter.
