Director

Running Time
106 mins

Ealing’s blackest comedy, superbly shot by Douglas Slocombe, casts Dennis Price as the black sheep of the wealthy d’Ascoyne family who sets out to murder eight of his rival heirs (all played by Alec Guinness) to get his hands on the family fortune. Deliciously cynical and enormous fun.

This Cinema Rediscovered screening of the new 70th anniversary 4K digital restoration will be followed by a discussion with director Terence Davies, hosted by broadcaster Matthew Sweet. Davies has described the film as “the greatest of all screen comedies. Not even Some Like It Hot can touch it!”
