Afrika Eye 2018: Film on a Ferry – Vanishing Sails

Director
Alexis Andrews
Running Time
88 mins

Alywn Enoe is the last wooden sailboat builder on the tiny island of Carriacou in the West Indies. He dreams of saving a tradition passed down the generations from 18th century Scottish settlers. Approaching his seventies, and with no more orders coming in, he sets out to build one last sailing sloop in the hope that his sons will be inspired to continue the family trade.

In what the Afrika Eye festival believes to be a Bristol first, this award-winning documentary will be screened during a boat journey round the city harbour. To add to the atmosphere, tots of rum and Caribbean snacks will be available. The Ferry Matilda leaves Cascade Steps in the centre at 7.30pm sharp. Advance booking is essential. Go here for tickets.
