Enock Alu, a Malawian teenager in a Chinese Buddhist orphanage, feels torn between his African roots and Chinese upbringing. Will he return to his relatives in his home village or study abroad in China? Through Enock’s story of growing up between two cultures, Buddha in Africa explores the tensions and uncertainties surrounding the growing relationship between China and Africa.

This Afrika Eye screening will be followed by a panel discussion.
