Kirtan, for the uninitiated, is a devotional song in which a group repeats lines sung by a leader. This New Agey documentary introduces “a diverse group of participants ranging from Tibetan monks to hip-hop MCs and prison inmates, who offer accounts of Kirtan’s lasting impact on their creative and emotional lives”.

It’s screened as part of the annual Doc n’Roll festival. Should you find yourself inspired to do some of your own chanting, the screening will be followed by a ‘Kirtan Experience’ led by Tim Chalice and Vaishnavi Brassey.
