British-born Libyan feminist documentarian Naziha Arebi‘s feature debut follows three young woman and their football team over five tumultuous years, beginning with hope and possibilities of the Arab Spring after the revolution that toppled Gaddafi.

Soon, however, the country is plunged into civil war as ISIS establishes a foothold and women’s football is banned by the disapproving beardy Islamists. The Afrika Eye film screening is presented in collaboration with East Bristol Cinema. Go here for further information and ticket details.
