Made for the BBC back in 1990, filmmaker, author and historian Alan Ereira‘s The Heart of the World – Elder Brother’s Warning gained rare access to the isolated mountaintop Kogi people from the Sierra Nevada in northern Colombia, who shared thier views on the interconnectedness of nature and the impact of environmental damage wroght by humanity. He’ll be present for a discussion after this screening, which is the first of two linked events at the Cube. Joining Alan will be Matthew Brown, Professor of Latin American History at the University of Bristol, and Maria-Teresa Pinto Ocampo, Lecturer in the Institute for the Study of Politics at the National University of Colombia in Bogota – an expert on the battles for history during the political conflict in Colombia.
