Here to Be Heard: The Story of the Slits

Director
William E. Badgley
Certificate
TBA
Running Time
86 mins

The Slits’ music was always what we might politely term “an acquired taste”, but there’s no doubting their historical importance as the world’s first all-girl punk band.

This crowd-funded documentary tells the story of these feminist Peel favourites and pioneers of ‘punky reggae’, from their inception in 1976 to their split in 2010, following the death of vocalist Ari Up.

The film will be followed by a Q&A with the band’s bassist Tessa Pollitt, hosted by Bristol24/7 Editor Martin Booth.
