Pavarotti

Director
Ron Howard
Certificate
12A
Running Time
114 mins

Ron Howard turns his attention from the Fabs to the late rotund tenor for this straightforward, authorised documentary, which benefits from access to the Pavarotti estate’s family archives.

Howard delivers the expected portrait of the self-styled ‘peasant’ who brought opera to the masses (cue: inevitable clip of the Three Tenors performing Nessun Dorma at the World Cup), acknowledging but declining to explore too deeply his portly legovers which rather undermined the ‘family man’ image.
