Ever wondered who invented the ‘mindfulness’ fad? Meet Zen Buddhist master Thich Nhat Hanh. This suitably slow, serene and contemplative documentary immerses viewers in the daily rituals of the secluded monastery of Plum Village in rural France, where, it says here, the monks and nuns are on a quest to develop “a deep sense of presence”.

It’s narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch, who also reads from Thich Nhat Hanh’s early journals. This promises to be a relaxing treat for the spiritually inclined after the hustle and bustle of Christmas and the New Year. Those who are less in touch with their navels may prefer to cultivate a deep sense of absense from the screenings.
