Revival of Agnès Varda’s best-known film, which has dated a little better than many supposed classics of the nouvelle vague. Corinne Marchand plays a pampered nightclub singer who spends a couple of hours on the streets of ‘60s Paris as she awaits the results of a biopsy that will tell here whether she’ll live or die. Watch out for Agnes’s chums, including Jean-Luc Godard, in the silent comedy she watches.
It’s back on screen in the Women on the Periphery strand of Cinema Rediscovered with an introduction by Watershed Cinema Producer Tara Judah.
