Running Time
103 mins

Danish director Gabriel Axel‘s funny, audience-pleasing arthouse foodie flick from 1987 stars Stephan Audran as a refugee from the Paris Commune of 1871 who settles among a Spartan Danish Lutheran community. She then uses all her wiles to prepare the titular repast in a effort to heal the rifts among the townsfolk.

Babette’s Feast kicks off the Cathedral’s new monthly Electric Shadows series of films deemed to have a “theological aspect”. This one’s introduced by the Dean of Bristol himself, the Very Revd Dr David Hoyle.
