Skate Kitchen + Q&A

Director
Crystal Moselle
Certificate
TBA
Running Time
100 mins

The first movie adapted from an Instagram feed, anybody? If that’s not ‘now’ enough for you, how about an all-girl skateboarding flick?

Crystal Moselle’s follow-up to that excellent, Sundance jury prize-winning documentary The Wolfpack is her narrative feature debut. It’s a vérité drama with plenty to say about the macho, testosterone-fuelled world of skateboarding as it follows a multiracial teenage New York crew. Although this breaks little new ground dramatically, it features strong performances from a cast of skateboarding first-time actors.

The Curzon’s screening will be followed by a Q&A with skate photographer and creator of Concrete Girls Charlotte Thomas and skateboard designer Ash Baigent of Ash Skates and Board of This who’ll be talking about underground female skate culture. you can also see an exhibition of Charlotte’s photography in the Curzon’s Oak Room in the run-up to the screening
