Cables & Cameras: The Conversation

- Running Time
- 660 mins
Cables & Cameras, the bimonthly event that showcasing the work of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) filmmakers and creatives, presents a groundbreaking day of talks, workshops, and screenings aimed at helping BAME artists gain better access to film and TV industries. Hosted by Adam Murray, it’s intended for students, career professionals, and everyone in between. Tickets are free for under-16s, or £15 on the door or online.
Cables & Cameras founder, Gary Thompson, says: “BAME representation in film and TV is well below where it needs to be. In Bristol, for example, we have a diverse community and mix of cultures, but sometimes we don’t see or hear the stories that affect us in day-to-day life. Diversity is on everyone’s lips at the moment, and the lack of representation is clear. The Conversation is an event that aims to bridge the gap. It will give young and emerging talent the opportunity to speak with seasoned professionals who can share experience, advice and guidance. And it will fill the void that currently exists by providing a route in to what can be an exclusive and hard-to-access industry.”
The keynote speaker is Jordan Jarrett-Bryan – a reporter and presenter for Channel 4’s award-winning coverage of the 2012 and 2016 Paralympic Games.
