Dancer Akram Khan‘s much-acclaimed first ballet as choreographer is a contemporary reworking of the French romantic ballet of love and betrayal. Tamara Rojo dances the title role, this time a one of a community of migrant workers cast out of their jobs in a condemned garment factory.

The sets and costumes are by Academy-Award winning designer Tim Yip (of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fame), and the ballet was recorded at the Liverpool Empire in October 2017.
