Director
David Bickerstaff
Certificate

Running Time
85 mins

Season five of Exhibition on Screen kicks off with a proper-job 21st century Grand Tour of the sites that inspired Venice’s most famous view painter – Giovanni Antonio Canal, aka Canaletto –  from the Rialto Bridge to the Piazza San Marco, and the Palazzo Ducale to the Church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo.

The film also explores the 200 paintings currently on display in the Queen’s Gallery, in the company of Royal Collection Trust curators and the world’s leading experts in Venetian history. In addition, you get to nose around Buck House and Windsor Castle to learn more about the artist and Joseph Smith – the man who introduced Canaletto to Britain.
