The world premiere of Brett Dean‘s colourful new opera based on the Bard’s best-known tragedy, with his own lyrical music and Matthew Jocelyn’s suitably Shakespearian libretto.

British tenor and Glyndebourne favourite Allan Clayton plays Hamlet, with fellow Brit and mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly as Gertrude. Canadian soprano Barbara Hannigan makes her Glyndebourne debut as Ophelia. It’s “the operatic event of the year” according to the Sunday Times and is broadcast live to cinemas from Glyndebourne.
