Margaret Atwood: Live in Cinemas – Encore Screening
- Certificate
- 12A
- Running Time
- 110 mins
Thirty-four years on from The Handmaid’s Tale, Margaret Atwood has finally got around to writing a sequel, The Testaments, which is published on September 10 (or earlier if you’re an Amazon customer, apparently).
To celebrate this momentous event, the author is participating in this live broadcast from the Lyttelton stage of the National Theatre in London to 1,000 cinemas worldwide. Broadcaster and author Samira Ahmed will interview Atwood about her career and diverse range of work. The sequel is certainly timely. The Handmaid’s Tale returned to the bestseller charts with the election of Donald Trump, when the handmaids became a symbol of resistance against him. The award-winning Channel 4 TV series has also boosted the book’s profile. Sales of the English language edition have now topped eight million copies worldwide. This live event is broadcast to cinemas on September 10, with encore screenings to follow.
