Metropolitan Opera Live: Adriana Lecouvreur

Certificate
12A
Running Time
213 mins

In 1730 Paris, hottie actress Adriana Lecouvreur falls passionately in love with Count Maurizio. But who’s that lurking in the wings? Why, it’s the count’s discarded mistress, Princesse de Bouillon? Is this going to end well? Hey – it’s opera. What do you think?

Francesco Cilea’s only successful opera is inspired by a true story. Soprano Anna Netrebko sings the title role for the first time at the Met in David McVicar‘s new production, which is set partially in a working replica of a baroque theatre. Tenor Piotr Beczała sings the role of Count Maurizio, with mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili
as the woman scorned.
