Tatiana (Anna Natrebko) is immediately smitten when she meets Eugene Onegin (Dmitri Hvorostovsky) at her family’s country estate. But the rotter rejects her. Not only that, but he torments his best friend Lensky by flirting with Lensky’s fiancee, Olga, who just happens to be Tatty’s little sister. Time for a manly duel to sort things out.

Deborah Warner‘s production of Tchaikovsky’s lyric opera based on Pushkin’s story shifts the action from the early to late 19th century, around the time of the work’s premiere.
