National Theatre Encore: I’m Not Running

Certificate
12A
Running Time
180 mins

David Hare returns to Labour Party politics for his new satire, with Siân Brooke as campaigning doctor Pauline Gibson, who’s hailed as a national heroine and “angel of the NHS”. But after becoming a single-issue independent MP, she finally joins the Labour Party and finds herself facing the possibility of a contest against a former lover-turned-machine politician for leadership of the Party.

Reviews of this one have been decidedly mixed, so here’s an opportunity to judge for yourself without having to haul ass to The Smoke. The play is broadcast live to cinemas on January 31, with encore screenings to follow.
