Royal Shakespeare Company Live: Measure for Measure

Director
Gregory Doran
Certificate
12A
Running Time
180 mins

A corrupt official offers to save novice nun’s brother from execution if she’ll have sex with him. When she threatens to expose him, he scoffs that no one will believe her.

RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran has described the Bard’s Measure For Measure as the ultimate #MeToo play. Not bad going for a work that was written in the early 1600s. His new production is part of the RSC’s summer season, which makes a conscious effort to embrace diversity – under heavy pressure from the Arts Council – much to the gammony fury of the right-wing press.
