Following his parents’ divorce, sulky teen Kai moves to a sleepy fishing village and joins a band. Then a mermaid named Lu pitches up to their rehearsals and changes all of their lives.

This decidedly Ponyo-esque new musical family anime was first shown locally as part of the Watershed’s More Than Miyazaki Japanese anime season, and now gets a wider release. It’s screened in Japanese with English subtitles.
