Given the dire nature of those live-action Scooby-Doo movies from the turn of the millennium, the bar has been set very low for this CGI animated reboot.
Despite a starry voice cast (Will Forte, Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, Zac Efron, Jason Isaacs, Gina Rodriquez, etc), Scoob proves to be just as feeble. Dick Dastardly is drafted in from Wacky Races to assume bad guy duties and it’s all rather tiresomely knowing. Worst of all, they’ve forgotten to supply a small-town mystery for the gang to solve. “While a younger audience might be enthralled by the fast pace and bright colour palette, those understandably curious adults sitting nearby will find themselves watching in horror, a deep, sorrowful howl emerging,” was The Guardian‘s verdict.
