There’s more syrupy moralising in Dreamworks’ sequel to its primary-coloured animation. This time, jolly Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) discover that there’s a shitload of other lands out there, each devoted to a different type of music. But they’re under threat from dastardly Queen Barb (Rachel Bloom) and her dad King Thrash (Ozzy Osbourne) who want to destroy everything except rock. Go Ozzy!

This one made history rather unexpectedly when it became the first big cinema release to be streamed online instead immediately after the lockdown. The fact that it exceeded the gross of the first film, taking nearly $100m, suggests either (a) distributors don’t need cinemas anymore, or (b) people were so desperate for entertainment under these extraordinary circumstances that they’d watch any old shit. Take your pick.
