Slapstick 2020: Silent Comedy Gala at Bristol Cathedral

Director
Buster Keaton, John D. Blystone
Certificate
PG
Running Time
140 mins

The continued unavailability of the Colston Hall means that the nomadic Slapstick festival shifts to Bristol Cathedral for its annual gala this year. The main attraction is the beautiful new 4K restoration of Our Hospitality – the Buster Keaton classic from 1923 in which hapless Buster falls for a woman whose family have vowed to kill every member of his family. It’s accompanied by an improvised score performed live by the European Silent Screen Virtuosi featuring maestro Guenter A. Buchwald, Frank Bockius and Romano Todesco.

Your host for the evening is Paul McGann, who will also be introducing some additional short comedies from Laurel & Hardy and Charlie Chaplin.
