Traditional Russian storytelling and Christmas feast
Join the team at Spike Island Cafe for an evening of traditional Russian Christmas storytelling and feasting, including borsch (traditional beetroot soup), herring, smoked meats, blini and plenty of vodka. The chef at Spike Island Cafe is half-Russian, so you can be sure you’ll enjoy a truly authentic experience.
The Spike Island storyteller will take you through tales of Christmas and New Year in Russia, following the revolution in 1917, through the days of the Soviet Union, and stories of Russian Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s traditional celebrations.
The Spike Island Cafe team will also be explaining the different traditions of specific items served in the feast, such as the story of the borsch, the Russian salad and its mysterious recipe, and dreams of blini.
