UK Barista Championships – South West heats
The UK Barista Championship is the UK’s premier coffee competition and the only one that offers the chance to compete at the World Barista Championship 2018 in Amsterdam in June.
Last year’s World Barista Champion, Dale Harris, came through this UKBC Bristol heat before winning the national title and then taking the global crown.
And Callum Parsons (pictured above) of Extract Coffee in St Werburgh’s finished fourth in the UK final, which was held at the Passenger Shed.

Each competitor at these heats will have 15 minutes to produce three sets of four drinks: espresso, milk beverage and a signature beverage. Set to music and with an accompanying presentation, each UKBC routine is a platform for innovation and education.
During the day, La Marzocco will host a panel discussion on specialty roasting. Is there a reason we don’t hear about advancements in roasting anymore? What does the future hold for roasting? What do roasters want to see? And how will these change the industry as we know it?
