Exultate Singers: Glories of Byzantium
In this early evening concert, Exultate Singers presents an intriguing programme of choral music influenced by Greek sacred and secular culture and traditions. The concert opens with a Byzantine chant by the 9th century abbess Kassiani. Inspired by the spirituality of Greek Orthodox chant, John Tavener’s celebrated Song of Athene and Eoniaare mesmerising and serene, transporting the listener into a mystical sound world.
