Action Beat are a perennially touring and intense improvisational noise band from Milton Keynes usually consisting of at least three guitars, baritone, bass and three/four drummers.

G.W. Sok is best known for his 30-year career as the frontman and co founder of The Ex. After leaving The Ex, Sok started to collaborate with several acts among which the French experimental free jazz band Cannibales & Vahinés and the Italian band Zu plus help form King Champion Sounds

“A Remarkable Machine, the new collaboration between British noiserockers Action Beat and G.W. Sok – frontman of legendary Dutch postpunks the Ex – is the rare album that’s so intense that you can only listen to it once all the way through without taking a break.” – New York Music Daily

Violet Mud

“Sludgy grunge meets mind-melting doom outfit, Violet Mud are one of the most exciting new acts from the area and put on one blistering live set” – Strong Island Records

Iceman Furniss Quintet

Playing entirely improvised music with deep rooted grooves and textured walls of sound, this band blend influences such as post-punk, the New York no wave scene, electric Miles, avant garde sonics and the spirtual jazz movement into their own uncompromising sound. Featuring Harry Furniss (cornet) Ant Brown (bass) Tom J Bryan (guitar and electronics) Chris Langton (drums) plus special guest Simon Mawson (drums)

Olanza

‘Olanza were much more to the point, their bassless twin guitar and drums line-up driven by full-energy downhill metal thrash principles yet able to open things out with the kind of straightforward dirty electric guitar sound that evoked Neil Young turned up to 11. The hyperpercussive drumming was satisfyingly seismic, whether slipping into a relentless Motorik beat or a defiantly Krautrock stomp, and their live sound wrangled the more mannered tones of their debut album into something bigger and badder. Olanza’s music shifts through distinct segments, guitarists Ben and Aron swapping roles and leading tunes away, drummer Shaun integrating and thickening the sound with abandon. It was intelligent stuff’ – Bristol 24/7

8.30pm, £6 OTD.
