Canadian electronica band Holy F*ck have always defied categorisation – but when pushed, they describe themselves as ‘hardcore thrift-store found-object punk’. After a six year hiatus, the band returned in 2016 with a new album and a return to their raw, unapologetic roots – ‘Holy F*ck have crammed a fistful of heart-racing, adrenaline-pumping club bangers into a blender, and smashed the result through a sieve (with a hammer)’ (The Skinny). With an arsenal of low-budget, hi-tech children’s toys and repurposed machines at their disposal, a night with Holy F*ck can sound “as if you’re stuck in the middle of an over-active, post-apocalyptic pinball machine” (Consequence of Sound). However, as brash and frenzied as their sound can be, Holy F*ck remain beat-driven and ‘as pummelling as they are danceable’ (Pitchfork).
Support comes from Scotland-based afrobeat, folk, Detroit techno enthusiast Makeness and Scalping, an enthralling and unpredictable live entity from the centre of Bristol’s exciting noise scene.
