Live Nation are bringing a double headline bill to Thekla in the form of Oddisee’s relatable hip-hop and Moonchild’s alternative R&B.
Influenced by soul and rap alongside the countless musicians in his family Oddisee started out as an underground producer before realising his potential. His lyrics are grounded and touch on personal issues as well as political themes while his production brings in a plethora of influences including retro-soul, go-go and gospel. Latest album, Beneath the Surface, was his first live recording and featured his band, Good Company.
Moonchild are a trio of multi-instrumentalists spinning together spaced out vibes and floaty vocals. After meeting at university the group quickly realised their own style of soul and new-school jazz, using it as a platform to explore a broad range of lyrical content. In the short time since their inception, they have realised three critically acclaimed albums and toured worldwide.
