Springboard
2019 marks the 25th Anniversary of Bristol Old Vic Young Company. To celebrate this milestone, BOV launches this brand new festival showcasing work from all 350 members of Young Company and other creatives from across the city.
Young Company will draw inspiration from their history, delving into shows and stories that have been performed by Young Company members gone before. Using extracts of scripts, production photos from its archives and rehearsal props and costumes, Young Company will devise a response to share on the day.
Additionally, Spark Theatre Makers, BOV’s disabled and learning-disabled company, will make their debut performance in the Weston Studio. The day will also include performances from BOV’s Young Theatre Makers from Merchants Academy, Bristol Metropolitan Academy and Bradley Stoke Community School which have been directed by Made in Bristol graduates.
is needed now More than ever
The day concludes with a performance from BOV’s Adult Company, who have been working with playwright and dramaturg, Adam Peck, to explore how we create meaning on stage starting from the simplest building blocks.
The performances are open to the public; all events are free so audience can just show up on the day to watch. Each showing will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
Sat Apr 6, 11am-10pm – various performances during the day, drop in. For more info, visit bristololdvic.org.uk/whats-on/springboard
