Ernest Thompson’s play is best known for its 1981 Academy Award-winning performances by Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn. The play opened on Broadway in February 1979 and ran for 126 performances winning a Tony award for the Best Actress in a play.

North Bristol’s Kelvin Players stage the much-loved story of a love that has stood the test of time for over 48 years.

Ethel and Norman Thayer continue their long tradition of spending each summer at their cottage on Golden Pond, in the far reaches of northern New England.

Norman is a curmudgeon with an estranged relationship with his daughter Chelsea. At Golden Pond he and his wife Ethel nevertheless agree to take care of Billy, the son of Chelsea’s new boyfriend, and a most unexpected relationship blooms between the three of them.
