Closer Each Day: Mayday! Mayday! Special
Special edition of The Wardrobe Theatre’s brilliant unplanned, unscripted and unconventional cult comedy show, now the world’s longest improvised narrative, which celebrated its 100th episode last June (catch up with the plot every other Monday at the Wardrobe, and read our rundown of ten of the best episodes to date here).
On Monday, May 1, the Closer Each Day Company are bringing their entirely improvised soap opera to Brunel’s ss Great Britain. This is the first event of its kind aboard the ship and as well as seeing a full-length, two-act, standalone episode of Closer Each Day, the audience can arrive before the show starts to explore the ship and museum and have a drink at the bar.
The show itself “sees the inhabitants of fictional Newtown, somewhere on the south coast of England, getting into scrapes and dramas on the historical ship, and perhaps we shall also see their ancestors in the 19th Century as crew and passengers. Whether you are a die-hard fan or someone who has never seen the show before, you will be intrigued, involved and in stitches! It is a fabulous opportunity to see two very different cultural icons of the city join together and produce something very special indeed.”
