Reasons to Stay Alive

Date: Tuesday, Oct 1 2019 - Saturday, Oct 5 2019
Venue: Bristol Old Vic

English Touring Theatre and Sheffield Theatres adapt Matt Haig’s moving memoir about emerging from depression.

At 24, Matt’s world collapsed under the weight of depression. This is the true story of his journey out of crisis; a profoundly uplifting exploration of living and loving better.

Through words, movement and music, this theatrical adaptation of Matt Haig’s frank and funny bestseller – imagined for the stage and directed by Jonathan Watkins (1984: A Ballet) – celebrates what it means to be alive.

“It’s wonderful to see a book take on other life forms, especially one as exciting and radically different as this one. I think this production will provide a fascinating way to look at depression and mental health. I’m so pleased it’s happening.” Matt Haig

“Warm and engaging, and shot through with humour… a valuable contribution to the conversation” The Sunday Times

Oct 1-5, 7.30pm plus Thur & Sat 2.30pm, from £10. Ages 12+.
